Beti Kamya lost her cabinet position of minister of lands and urban when President Yoweri Museveni released the new list two months ago.
The former Kampala minister and opposition bigwig has bounced back as Inspector General of Government.
President Museveni today evening released a statement confirming the appointment of the former Dr. Kizza Besigye’s special envoy as IGG.
Kamya will be deputized by Anne Muhairwe, the President of the Uganda Christian Lawyers Fraternity.

By the Powers given to me under Article 223(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, I hereby, appoint: 1. Inspector General of Government – Beti Namisango Kamya 2. Deputy Inspector of Government – Anne Muhairwe Yoweri Kaguta Museveni President of Uganda

Who is Beti Kamya?
Beti Olive Namisango Kamya-Turomwe, also known as Betty Kamya and Beti Kamya, is a businesswoman and politician in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community.
She is the former Cabinet Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development and minister for Kampala in the Cabinet of Uganda since 2016.
Beti Kamya before serving President Museveni’s government, was a special envoy for Forum for Democratic Change FDC President Dr. Kizza Besigye from 2005 to 2013.
The new IGG also served the NRM government in a capacity of Executive Director of the Uganda Wild Life Authority from 1999 to 2004.
