Dr. Kizza Besigye has roared that countdown to end of the 42 days of lockdown leave the population guessing.

President Yoweri Museveni announced 42 days of national lockdown to help ease the deadly 2nd wave of Covid-19 which has left 2579 dead and over one million cases.

President Museveni is expected to address the nation at the end of the lockdown to guide the nation on the next course of action.

However, Dr. Besigye fears President Museveni and his government are riding on his plan which he shared earlier this month.

Dr. Besigye tweeted: “As 42-day “lockdown” grinds to an end, it’s total speculation in Uganda about what next!”

The former four time FDC Presidential candidate noted: “Without an inclusive process that offers a known plan and targets, we’ve planned for costly confusion!”

Dr. Besigye who runs his political activities under the umbrella organisation, The Peoples’ Government, stated: “Money is recklessly spent on a few at the expense of all! The plan we presented on 13 July.”

Dr. Besigye tipped: “At the family and local community level, prioritise the protection of the vulnerable: 60 years and above plus those with chronic ailments. Isolate them until they’re immunised. Proactively demand for their immunisation.”

Dr. Besigye urged: “Critically, it’s time to end the discriminatory management of our society. It’s time for the marginalised to raise their voices until they regain influence on decisions affecting them. Let’s consider imposing a lockdown on all till an inclusive plan for survival of all is made.”

The information minister, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi informed the nation late last week that:

“The level of infections and positivity rate would be a key consideration in what restrictions should be lifted after the expiry of the 42 days of the lock down.”

The Minister for Health, Jane Ruth Aceng has confirmed that she will address the country tomorrow vie the national broadcaster UBC at 11:00am to provide an update on measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Ministry of Health has announced that the country is set to receive a donation of 586,080 doses of AstraZenaca Covid vaccines from the Norway Government under dose sharing through Covax facility, at the end of this week.

While the Prime Minister Robinnah Nabanja confirmed to Parliament last week that 80% of the population has received the proposed cash transfer of Shs 100,000 approved by Cabinet to reach 501,107 households (38% of the total households) in the Kampala Metropolitan Area, all Cities, and Municipalities.
