Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has grown anxious about President Yoweri Museveni’s highly anticipated address to the nation this weekend.

President Museveni has confirmed he will address the nation on the progress made on Covid-19 after imposing 42 days of national lockdown.

Lord Mayor Lukwago appeared on NBS TV Tuesday night to assess the lockdown and its effects on the city and the business fraternity.

The Lord Mayor expressed fears ahead of the President’s scheduled address. He thinks the President will extend the lockdown instead.

Lukwago, who is the elected head of the city, dismissed: “I’m sure Mr. Museveni will not ease the lockdown. Only Mr. Yoweri Museveni knows what he will dream about and tell Ugandans.”

The Lord Mayor reasoned: “There is totally no plan to open up. If it was there, Lugoloobi would have told us.”

The lord mayor commiserated: “I extend my sympathies to residents of Kampala who were beaten during lockdown and those who were unable to receive money.”

And urged: “As of today, the businesses have completely collapsed. There’s a concept in law of contract called force majeure which translates that when there is an act of God like Covid1-9 that frustrates the agreement, then a contract can’t be enforced. Landlords should leave the tenants.”

On shortage of vaccines, the lord mayor raged: “They say there is no vaccines. Where did Ham get the ones he used to vaccinate his workers?”
