President Yoweri Museveni Wednesday witnessed the swearing in ceremony of three ministers to complete his cabinet but warned them expectations will be higher this time.
President Museveni cabinet has 32 Cabinet ministers and 50 Ministers of State to serve in the term 2021 to 2026.
Museveni presided over the swearing-in of Ministers; Wilson Muruli Mukasa Minister of Public Service, Sam Mangusho Cheptoris, Minister of Water and Environment and Kyakulaga Fred Bwino Minister of State for Agriculture at State House.
The President hailed the trio: “I congratulate the Ministers: Hon. Muruli Mukasa (Public Service), Hon. Sam Cheptoris (Water and Environment,) and Hon. Kyakulaga Fred Bwino Minister (State for Agriculture) upon taking the oath of office.”
However, President Yoweri Museveni did not allow them to get away with his congratulatory message. He warned them: “I tasked them to deliver results through service to our people.”
He then went on: “The message to all ministers and all our leaders who have taken oath is: This kisanja is not for talking, we must focus on the issue of getting most of the population out of subsistence farming to a money economy in order to achieve the social-economic transformation.”
Museveni tipped: “The issue of getting the 39% of the population engaged in subsistence farming to a money economy, so that we achieve social economic transformation is key in this term of office.”
On Muruli’s son gift to him, he hailed: “At the climax of the swearing-in ceremony for some ministers, the son of Hon. Muruli Mukasa (our minister for public service) gifted me a portrait made out of charcoal. This is enterprising! As for the gesture, thank you so much my muzukulu.”
The President is expected to address the nation Friday evening on the progress of the fight against Covid-19 as citizens’ expectations are high on the 42 day lockdown he imposed to ease cases and deaths.
