Gilbert Olanya the Kilak South County legislator is counting his blessings after escaping a nerve wreaking accident on Tuesday.

Olanya was in the company of his driver when his ride collided with a Fuso truck, UBB 861B at 8:30 am in Nakasongola district along the Kampala-Gulu highway. 

The 2 who were traveling to Kampala from Gulu sustained minor injuries from the incident and were rushed to a health center for first aid before proceeding on their journey in a different ride.

Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson Isah Ssemwogerere says the Mp’s car veered off its course into the Fuso truck that was parked along the road.

This makes him the 4th legislator to get involved in a similar accident in a space of weeks.

2 weeks ago State Minister for the Vice Presidency Diana Mutasingwa Kagyenyi was involved in an accident along the Kampala-Gulu highway. 

 Also on Sunday Buhweju County Member of Parliament Francis Mwijukye survived lynching by angry residents after his car allegedly knocked two children dead at Mbizzinya–Kyengera Village near Buwama Town along Kampala-Masaka highway.

On Saturday the Opposition Chief Whip John Baptist Nambeshe also survived being lynched by an angry mob after knocking a person 

Nambeshe who was from Kampala heading to Mbale on Saturday knocked an unidentified person at Namwezi along Kampala-Jinja highway in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District.
