23-year-old James Olugu, a resident of Bargri cell, Eastern ward in Aboke Town Council has been caged for battering his own father to death.

Olugu used thick wood to strike his old man on the head after a heated argument over Ugx 5000.

Eyewitnesses claim Olugu returned home drunk on Sunday night and found his father Alex Ogwang questioning his teenage daughter over the missing ugx 5000.

Ogwang reportedly pounced on his daughter and started hitting her, on grounds that she had stolen his cash.

In the process, Olugu intervened to save his young sister by grabbing a thick dry piece of wood he used to strike Ogwang on the forehead, killing him on spot.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson, says that they picked up the suspects to help police investigations.

Okema says ‘‘That Muzeei was killed by the biological son, he came to rescue the sister whom the father had alleged that he stole 5000 shillings,he was so angry with the Dad. So he has been arrested, its so unfortunate its purely murder and I think its not right for us to act emotionally when certain incidences are taking place .

According to police records, North Kyoga Police region registered 92 murder cases between January and May 2021.

Mob action is the biggest contributor to murder cases followed by domestic violence, murder by shooting, poisoning and use of blunt objects.
