Security forces have deployed massively at the Masaka Central Police Station, ahead of the arrival of National Unity Platform-NUP legislators, Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana and his Kawempe North’s Muhammad Ssegirinya.

The 2 opposition MPs are supposed to respond to a summon issued by the director of the criminal investigations in relation to the Masaka brutal murders.

In a letter dated September 3rd, the Criminal Investigations director Kato Tumuhimbise directed that the legislators appear at Masaka Central police station to help police with investigations into the ongoing murders.

The letter summoning the MP’swas addressed through the Speaker of Parliament.

As early as 6 am this morning, police in patrol cars canters, and armed foot patrol officers were sighted around in and the police station.

Close to 40 armed police officers clad in the blueprint uniform are currently manning the tiny police post in an attempt to keep off unwanted persons from approaching the area.

Police say the 2 will appear just to record their statements in regard to the Masaka murders.

It has also been established that Kampala Woman MP Shamim Malende was blocked from accessing Masaka Central Police Station where she had arrived to support the duo on legal grounds.

The NUP MP’s have not yet arrived at the station but, anxious Masaka locals can be seen from afar peeping and cocooning in small circles to gossip.

On Wednesday this week, Masaka Grade 1 magistrates court charged and remanded 10 suspects for the disturbing murders in the Greater Masaka area.

Masaka Chief Magistrate, Charles Yeteise remanded the suspected assailants to Ssaza Government Prison on Wednesday last week after slapping 7 counts of murder on them contrary to sections 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act.

5 of the suspects confessed in court and pleaded guilty to killing some suspects.
