Patrick Oboi Amuriat has brushed aside claims the party he leads FDC is closing shop.
FDC was in the most recent elections dethroned as the biggest opposition in Parliament by the National Unity Platform of Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine.
Amuriat announced changes at the party’s headquarters at Najjanankumbi in Kampala, appointing the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago as the Vice President Buganda Region. He also announced Adeke Anna as Vice President Eastern.
The FDC chief told party followers who graced the announcement of the new changes that there are ‘naysayers’ who ‘believe that FDC is about to wind up’.
Amuriat said: “FDC has been through a lot of trials and tribulations. Many times, these trials have caused the naysayers to believe that FDC is about to wind up. We refuse to die as the FDC.”
He vowed: “If a dictator or any other force of change mistakenly thought FDC had gone to limbo, had died, today is the answer to doubting Thomas’s. We are going to every corner of this country to ensure that our message of liberation is in every ear of this nation.”
The party chief on the changes, said: “We are in the advanced stages of the development of a strategic plan stated in methods of work, engaged as a political party. We want to go with others. We are not tired of making a call to all pro forces of this country. Our hands are open we are going to receive you and work with you.”
He used the space to remind the party in government: “I want to tell the dictator that we are now complete, we are complete we are going to hit the road, hit the ground running.”
Amuriat stated: “We are a party that is founded on revolutionary ideas, we are a party of defiance and in everything we do, we are going to propagate the principles. we are going to propagate the practices.”
