Police in Tororo are hunting for a senior pastor accused of killing a 60 yr old man.
The accused Pastor Paul Owere aka Okwenje is a resident of Osia Lulokoyo village in Osukuru town Council in Tororo district.
The deceased was reportedly taken to Owere’s home for prayers on September 8, 2021, after his family suspected he was demon-possessed.
The pastor told Grace, Oketcho’s wife that he couldn’t house the couple and asked her to leave him behind.
However, the next day, while she was preparing to check on her husband, the pastor arrived with his dead body on a motorcycle supported by another person.
He proceeded into the house and informed the family that Oketcho had died and without a clear explanation dumped his body and left.
With the thought that demons had killed him, Oketcho’s family members started burial arrangements but what came after shocked them.
In the process of dressing Oketcho’s body, it was realized that he had a deep cut on his head, that wasn’t present when his body was taken for prayers.
Moses Mugwe, the Bukedi South Police Spokesperson, says that they have commenced investigations into the matter, as the hunt for the suspect is ongoing.
