Jinja Police have arrested and charged a wicked father for defiling his biological daughter, a vice he started after his wife left him.
Wekolere Stephen, 41, a resident of Butagaya Village, Butagaya sub-county has reportedly been sexually abusing his girl child since he separated from his wife, who left him for another man.
The Kiira region Police Spokesperson, James Mubi, says Wekolere has been locked up at Buwenge Police Station on charges of aggravated defilement pending further investigations.
Mubi, says on September 2, a case of defilement was first reported by Wekolere who accused the nephew, Peter Nabende, 22, of defiling his daughter. However, the girl later revealed to the police that the father was the real culprit.
Mubi says Nabende is also under police custody at CPS Buwenge to help police with crucial information in the ongoing Investigations.

“We have got two suspects in our custody: the prime suspect, who is the father of the girl and his nephew who he first accused of the crime,” he said, adding that once convicted, the suspect would be charged with aggravated defilement.
According to a 2020 Police Crime Report, 14,230 girls were defiled, accounting for a 3.8% increase from the 13,613 reported in the year 2019.
Of the 14230, 9,954 victims were between the ages of 15 and 17 while 2,986 were between the ages of 14 and nine and 1,280 were below the age of eight.
Defilement is considered aggravated if the girl is under 14 years old, the offender has HIV/AIDS, the offender is the victim’s parent or guardian, the girl has a disability, or the offender is a serial offender, and it carries a maximum penalty of death
