Police in Kampala has launched investigations into circumstances under which a vendor operating at Nakasero market suddenly dropped dead while on duty.
The deceased identified as Elizabeth Kakayi ,60,was reportedly conversing with her colleagues in the market when she suddenly collapsed and fell to the ground at about 11:20 am.
Eye witnesses claim the deceased looked well and healthy before the the incident and they were shocked to see her die suddenly.
Luke Owoyesigirye ,the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson says police has not yet established the cause of death. He says they have picked the body and transferred it to the mortuary at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
“The incident happened today 11.01.2022 at about 11:20 am while she was talking with friends in the market. The body of the deceased person was conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for a post mortem.”he said
In July ,2021,a similar incident involving a market vendor happened at Nakawa market. The deceased is Hadija Nakyanzi, who had been operating shop in the market was found dead in the morning.Colleagues who went to pick their merchandise from her shop at around 5 am found her lifeless body on the ground.
