Ailing Speaker Oulanyah The Democratic Party (DP)President Norbert Mao has updated the public on the latest status of his ailing long time friend and Speaker of Parliament Rt .Hon. Jacob Oulanyah.
The Speaker was admitted at a hospital in Seattle USA on February 03, 2022 after specialists at Mulago National Referral Hospital referred him. Since his hospitalization, bloggers and social media users have to seized spreading propaganda about Oulanyah’s condition and what he suffers from.
Social media has been awash with unconfirmed rumours of his demise and sympathizes for his quick recovery.
In his latest tweet, DP President Mao who is currently in the US to visit his long time buddy, claims he is ‘very ill ‘ and in need of prayers.
Mao has also asked the public to respect the Speaker’s privacy as he battles an unknown illness. He also reveals that the Deputy Speaker who jetted out of the Country with him and other comrades will officially update the nation on his State.
Ailing Speaker Oulanyah “I’m with the CJ, the D/Speaker, the Health Minister & the Speaker’s brother in Seattle where the Speaker is hospitalized. A man who is very ill deserves our prayers. The Deputy Speaker Anita Among on Tuesday afternoon adjourned plenary after just 30 minutes leaving pending items on the order paper.
She would later board a flight along side four others to check on the Speaker. Her action left legislators and citizens speculating whether the situation with Oulanyah had gone from bad to worse.
Oulanyah was airlifted in the early hours of Thursday 3rd, February aboard a chartered Uganda Airlines’ Airbus A330-800 neo, with registration code 5X-NIL which reportedly flew from Entebbe to Keflavik, Iceland in a flight time of 10 hours 42 minutes before starting its second leg from Keflavik to Seattle which lasted 7 hours and 28 minutes.
This is not the first time that the Speaker has disappeared from the public eye under similar circumstances. In June last year, the Speaker went missing shortly after chairing the budget reading.
The last time Speaker Oulanyah was spotted in the public eye is in June during the 2021/2022 budget reading. The Omoro county Mp drew attention from both the public and his fellow legislators.
The lion of Omoro would later appear on July 29, 2022 in a flamboyant entrance to Parliament looking thinner but stable and fine.
That Thursday afternoon, Speaker Oulanyah tagged a section of legislators hypocrites for demanding to know his whereabouts
