The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has held closed door talks with new Cuba ambassador to Uganda on issues of national importance.
The meeting that happened on Tuesday at 9:30 am between the Secretary General Richard Todwong, Elizabeth Musaazi, Uganda’s Ambassador-designate to Cuba, Director in charge of the Diaspora at NRM, (Rtd) Maj Awich Pola and the Cuban representative to Uganda Tania Perez.
Hon .Todwong told the media shortly after the meeting that they discussed bilateral ties between the two countries to benefit citizens.
“Both sides had deliberated on several issue of mutual interest that are of great concern on how to sustain historical ties and shared strategies on how both ruling parties and their governments can work in the interest of their citizens,” he said
Todwong further stated that they have a strong solidarity with Cuba in Agricultural science, technology and research,which has benefited Ugandan universities with scholarships in different fields.
He also said the Ambassador Perez also came to pay her respect to the fallen Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Jacob Oulanyah, Speaker Emeritus of Parliament and CEC Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda. Amb. Tania Perez signed the condolence book to express her country’s sympathies to NRM and Uganda at large.
She also handed over accreditation to the President wishing and keep coordinating with the NRM party.
Cuba and Uganda have had historical collaborations and partnerships in areas of science and technology, education, agriculture and protracted fight for freedom and independence.
