Police fire brigade has managed to contain a viscous fire that gutted the office of the Chief Justice of Uganda, CJ Alphonse Owiny Dollo at the Supreme Court building in Kololo.

The fire that broke out at 10:00am on Wednesday was reportedly started when a cleaner at the chambers turned on the light at the CJ’s office. Eye witnesses who prefer anonymity claim a female cleaner opened the office in the absence of the CJ and turned on the light switch when she realized sparks leading to the fire outbreak.

They claim the woman screamed for help when she noticed a fire starting, prompting colleagues at the office to call police.

According to our reporter Rashidah Naakayi, police officers from the Fire and Rescue Service Department were swift in rushing to the scene and containing the fire by 11 am.

By press time, police from Counter terrorism department had cordoned off the scene to establish the exact cause of the fire that will be communicated soon.
