It’s official that Dansolo King, Andrew Kabuura has called it quits at NTV Uganda, and subsequently joined direct rivals, NBS TV, this website understands.
Andrew Kabuura has been the conductor of “NTV Pressbox”, a popular sports show, for the past fours years, but he had to move on after falling out with the bosses over contract issues, an inside source tells us.
“He took his Pressbox franchise to Nextmedia after a disagreement with NMG over contract issues…” a source spilled the beans.
Following the tip off, Kabuura also confirmed the rumour but didn’t give details or reasons why he had to make the big-money-move to the Naguru-based TV station, which is known for not nurturing but poaching highly skilled workers from their competitors in business.
“To our great audience, Four years with you doing #NtvPressbox on NTV Uganda has been a thrilling experience. We’ve loved every bit. Thank you to NTV and our great viewers for always watching and following the show. See you soon. Pressbox team,” a statement from Pressbox reads.
According to a source, Kabuura, who loves them juicy, convinced one of his trusted sports journos, Mark Ssali, with whom he has been manning the show to join him. The other colleagues; Andrew Mwanguhya, Ismail Dhakaba Kigongo, and Joel Khamadi, staying behind.
Pics of him with NBS bosses are already making rounds on social media.
NBS TV now has two renowned ‘Dansolo Kings’ in Kabuura and MC kats.
In 2021, Andrew Kabuura’s wife, Flavia Tumusiime, also resigned from the Serena-based TV station after the bosses refused to honour her request for a salary increment.
Flavia, 33, had spent a decade at NTV, where she was anchoring a weekly bulletin.
