Three people are feared dead after a storeyed building in Ndejje, Kibutuka zone in Kampala collapsed suddenly.
The building that was reportedly under construction abruptly caved in on an unspecified number of people, on Friday morning at 08:00 am.
By 10:00 am police at Katwe and locals had commenced rescue efforts to remove several people trapped in the rubble.
According to Galaxy Fm reporter Minah Nalule, four bodies have been removed from the rubble so far.
She says three dead bodies have already been conveyed to City Mortuary Mulago for Postmortem, while the fourth victim was rushed to hospital. Rescue efforts are still ongoing.
Earlier, Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigirye said officers from fire prevention and rescue department plus the territorial police are working to ensure all people are rescued alive.
He says the cause of the collapse is yet to be established, although investigations have commenced.
“All efforts are underway to ensure that the victims are removed alive, we don’t know the cause of the collapse but we shall do an investigation after the rescue efforts , to establish what happened , He said
