The National Unity Platform (NUP) on Tuesday held a brief ceremony to unveil a new site for the party’s headquarters in Kavule, Kawempe Division in Kampala.
The new site, which will host a multimillion structure, will be the permanent home for the NUP party once it is completed.
According to the party spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi the extensive land will not only act as the party offices but also host big functions that have always been held at the official residence of their president Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
He says due to the limited space at the current headquarters in Kamwokya, it was difficult to host major party events.
“Many times when we want to have big functions, we inconvenience our party president to allow us to use his compound because he has an expansive compound. We have now finally acquired this place, so the headquarters of the NUP is going to be established here. (Makerere Kavule)” Ssenyonyi said.
Ssenyonyi says the structure containing the offices in Kamwokya that belonged to Bobi Winewill now be used as a training center for members.
Party president Bobi Wine said this achievement will portray the NUP as a more permanent force to reckon with in Uganda. He says his party members and supporters need to embrace the new structures as theirs.
“Many people were doubting us, they were calling us a ‘wave’. Whatever you call us, I want to inform you that we are here to stay,” Kyagulanyi said.
