New Commissariat Director replaces Kasingye

Three months after Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Asan Kasingye, retired from the force, his replacement has been appointed in an acting capacity.

Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola has appointed Senior Commissioner of Police, SCP, Hadijah Namutebi to the vacant slot after Kasingye’s contract expired.

Namutebi will hold the position as Acting Director because her new office is supposed to be steered by a person holding the rank of AIGP, which is the highest in the police force.

Prior to this appointment, Hillary Kulayigye – the Deputy was managing the position in acting capacity. Kulayigye who was recently promoted to Commissioner of Police – CP remains as Deputy to Namutebi.

Among other changes, former Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander SCP Frank Mwesigwa has been Deputy Director, Counter Terrorism in charge of Oil and Gas. Tourism, Oil, and Gas are under the Counter-Terrorism Directorate, headed by AIGP Abbas Byakagaba.

Police SACCO chairman, SCP Wilson Omoding, who has been deputising AIGP Byakagaba at Counter terrorism has been appointed Deputy Operations Director to AIGP John Nuwagira. Nuwagira, now AIGP, replaced retired AIGP Edward Ochom.

New Commissariat Director replaces Kasingye

ACP Ben Mubangizi, who has been deputising KMP commander, SCP Stephen Tanui, has been moved to the department of private security and firearms, which is currently headed by CP Charles Ssebambulidde. Ochola has also appointed ACP Rose Nahyuha commandant of Railway police, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jonathan Musinguzi, who has been commander of KMP operations, has been appointed regional police commander Bukedi North.

SSP Alfred Bangambaki is now RPC greater Masaka while ACP Amai Ogwal has been assigned the roles of the man-power audit.
