A section of Social media in-laws are not happy with Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Francis Zaake Mutebi, for throwing away cash totalling UGX 10M, presented to him as a wedding gift from the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among.
For starters, last week on Friday, MP Zaake legalised his bonk sessions with longtime sweetheart, Bridget Namirembe at Kiyinda Mityana Cathedral Church before hosting their guests to a reception at Mityana Emirates Hotel, owned by the National Unity Platform (NUP) leaning legislature.
While at the pompous wedding reception, gifts from family, friends, well-wishers and colleagues started flooding in but, notably one from the Speaker, Anita Among – a person who spearheaded Zaake’s removal from Parliament’s Commission – was publicly rejected with no remorse.
To be more precise, in these tough economic times, Zaake was presented with an envelope containing UGX 10 million from the Speaker but he gloriously threw it away, leaving his fellow NUP disciples fired up.

The ‘infamous act’ has caused an uproar on social media with a huge section of Netizens calling out the 28-year-old politician, who is also Bobi Wine’s close associate, ‘for privately inviting the Speaker and then pretending to disown her contribution in public.
“You disappointed the Roman Catholic Church with your faith, we received three sacraments of penance, holy matrimony and holy Communion. It would be the beginning of a new good generation but you are turning it down,” one of the disgruntled Netizens, Nuwagira K Possiano rushed to comment.
“After receiving the two beautiful sacraments that’s Holy Matrimony and Holy Communion, I expected to see a different man. U didn’t want the money, yes, that’s understandable. U just didn’t have to throw it away. U would have just given it back in good faith. Moral of the story, charity begins at home,” Ankunda Grace also gave her opinion.
“Yes MP Zaake Francis Butebi might be having a group of people supporting what he did because of their own reasons and his reasons but no matter the reason, wrong shall always be wrong and there is no amount of explanation that can clear that. It was wrong, it is still wrong and it shall forever be wrong. Period,” Atinampora Jor Gie called out the lawmaker.
“Am a NUP supporter but wat u did was very wrong u showed stupidity of the highest order, before the people u invited including the priests ? U shamed ur family for maybe not bringing u up properly. Tolina mpisa yade learn to kwelekelamu I don’t think our president can act like that u would have pretended and may be send back the money. u could still invite the cameras cos that’s their work. Watuswaziza nyoooooo,” Lilian Angel also ranted.
“I remember that time I watched Zaake sweating plasma on voice of America show, I lost hope in the man. Very immature and nearly clueless. You can’t imagine the kind of a lumpen he would have turned into if it wasn’t for some education he managed to get, although he doesn’t act like it,” Ian Avie skinned the MP.
“We always tell you most of these NUP guys are feckless from up-bottom nga muwakana. Of course, Bobi Wine has tried to adjust over time but this bonehead vapid who at one time sweated like a stallion on VOA will forever remain a rort. We have two problems as a country, the ruling party and the opposition. We shall need to fight them concurrently,” Nelson Walozi blasted Zaake.
However, responding to Netizens via his Twitter account, Zaake claims that he never invited Speaker Anita Among to his wedding and that her cash wasn’t needed either.
“I did not invite the Speaker of Parliament to my wedding or anywhere for that matter. I did not seek, request for, receive or need any financial contribution from her,” he tweeted.
“I will not bother challenging the author of the false tweet in this screenshot to prove her allegations because one cannot prove what does not exist,” he added.
Meanwhile, Speaker Anita Among is still mute about the incident.
