Speaker Among’s death threat claims
Police has started investigations into allegations of death threats made by the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among.
Last week during plenary on 8th September, Among told Members of Parliament in the August House that her life was in danger as unknown goons have started trailing her.
She stated that a report she received indicated that her vehicle was being trailed by suspected assassins. Among emphasised that to date, her car is still still being followed by the suspected assassins.
“I have got a report and I have only shared this with the Leader of Opposition [Mr Mathias Mpuuga] and now I can officially tell you [MPs in plenary]. I have got an assassination report wanting to assassinate me,” she told the House.
Now, Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, says security operatives under the CID and Special Investigations Division in Kireka have picked interest in the matter.
“The position of Speaker of Parliament is a very important one that should have consequences to the country and parliamentarians. so our CID experts are investigating the extent of the threats, but we shall not elaborate when and who made the threats,” Enanga said.

Enanga has implored the media to be patient as investigations take their course so as not to compromise anything.
“These investigations are protected. We know the media might want to find out inch by inch update on investigations but this will compromise investigations and witness accounts,” he said.
