Sheebah brags about helping Jeff Kiwa, takes half of the credit
About 10 years ago, songstress Sheebah Karungi was just another struggling upcoming artist. She had hustled in night clubs, doing Karaoke to make ends meet.
In around July this year, while responding to State Minister of Mineral Development Sarah Opendi’s plea to the government to have indecent artists banned from performing at schools, the self-styled Queen Karma disclosed how she used to earn less than UGX 10,000 per day,
“When I was a karaoke singer earning UGX 9,000, where were they? When I spent days in church on an empty stomach, where were they? You can’t wait for me to hustle and make it before telling me what to do. No one will tell me what to do, how to dress… I am an adult who has catapulted myself to the top,” she scoffed.

Before her major breakthrough, Sheebah had tried her luck with now the defunct Obsessions group but not much had been achieved musically.
Jeff Kiwa took her on in 2013 after the Good Lyf boys (the late Mowzey Radio and Weasel) fired him. Under Jeff Kiwa’s Team No Sleep (TNS), she released her breakthrough song, Ice Cream, and followed it with hit after hit, year in, year out!
Sheebah became a force to reckon with, rubbing shoulders with outstanding artists in the land and scooping coveted awards, both locally and internationally. With Jeff pressing the right buttons given his vast experience in the music game, Sheebah grew her brand, signed mega endorsement deals and subsequently, her whole life changed.
The pair parted ways at the beginning of this but, many entertainment pundits, critics and music lovers attribute her success to none other than Jeff Kiwa. They claim that without him, Sheebah wouldn’t be as big as she is today. However, the 32-year-old star singer disputes the claims.
According to her, she was not made by Jeff but rather, they worked together and helped each other.
“My journey with that gentleman was good. Like any other partnership, you reach a point and it ends and you have to move on,” Sheebah noted, while addressing the media on Tuesday.
“Jeff pushed me for the nine years we worked together and I also pushed him to where he is. Now it is time I carry on, with all due respect. He didn’t make me, we worked together and we got here,” she further said.
Jeff Kiwa is currently managing artists such as Pinky, Grenade Official and Aroma. Sheebah on the other hand is being handled by one Dirisa.
