Primary school teacher molests 12-year-old pupil
Police in Mbale city have netted a 26-year-old, teacher at Nabuyonga Primary School on allegations of sexually abusing one of his pupils.
The suspect Joel Situma, defiled his victim (names withheld) in the classroom during coaching sessions.
According to the victim’s mother, the teacher had previously requested to offer coaching lessons to her primary six daughter every weekday at 5 am. Its during that time that he would lure the girl into sexual intercourse and reportedly threaten her to stay quiet.

Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, says police arrested the suspect after receiving a report from the victim’s mother.
He says the suspect remains in custody at Mbale Central Police Station, and a medical examination has been conducted on the minor. The police are awaiting advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) before proceeding with charging Situma with aggravated defilement.
