While appearing in one of most recent interviews, Laika noted that she had laid back a little bit to learn so many things that have eventually led to the growth of her music career.
“The past two years were tough. We were the survivors. When no one was working, I went to the studio, wrote songs, and learned so many things,” she said.
Laika added that she writes most of her songs especially those in English and Kiswahili. However, someone else helps her with the Luganda songs since she is not good at writing those.
She focuses most of her songs on love stories because she believes that love sells a lot, unlike other topics. However, she was quick to say that she hasn’t yet sung about her own experiences and that most of the time she sings about things that usually happen.
“My songs are an imagination of things that other people go through. When I sing about myself, you will know,” Laika said.
However, her latest song titled Love Story, must be from her personal experience, given the lyrics and the feelings she oozes out. Love Story is in English and Luganda, giving it more chances to tap in a broader market.
