Viscous woman stabs hubby for reportedly checking her bag

Police in Arua City have netted a ruthless woman over allegations of stabbing her husband to death under unclear circumstances. 

Monica Amaniyo, a resident of Ombezevua cell in Kenya ward, Arua central division, was arrested on Monday for allegedly killing her husband Robert Munguci. 

According to Josephine Angucia, the West Nile region police spokesperson, the incident happened around 1:30 am on Monday after the couple had a heated exchange over a bag, which escalated into a fight. 

It is alleged that on that fateful day, Munguci returned home wreaking of alcohol and started calling out his wife for not supporting him financially. He reportedly proceeded to check the wife’s hand bag for money, something that angered Amaniyo.

According to eyewitnesses, Munguci refused to listen to Amaniyo when she ordered him off the bag. He instead claimed entitlement to the bag because he purchased it.

In a fit of rage, Amaniyo reportedly reached for a knife and stabbed Munguci several times in the stomach, causing him to bleed severely.

At this point, locals approached the home and realized the deceased lying in a pool of blood. The local council one general secretary of the Ombezevua cell was notified and police rushed to the scene, recovered the knife allegedly used to stab the deceased and arrested the suspect. 

The body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for burial, while Amaniyo is being held at Arua Central Police Station in Basaar ward awaiting her appearance in court on charges of murder. 

Summary Ijaga, the LC 2 chairperson of Kenya ward in Arua central division, described the incident as unfortunate, urging couples to seek dialogue to resolve misunderstandings.

“We appeal to couples to use peaceful means to resolve their disagreements rather than resorting to violence,” he said. This is the second such incident in less than a month, following the alleged killing of Rogers Mundua by his wife, Mary Asianzu Racheal, in a domestic brawl on Easter Sunday.
