Police reveal hitman, plot involving police commander to kill city lawyer

The police and sister security agencies have worked tirelessly to net perpetrators involved in the assassination of city lawyer attached to IBC advocates in Kampala.

The deceased Ronald Mukisa, 45, was last week shot several times at close range by one suspect who later fled on a motorcycle. Mukisa was closing his residential gate in Kitiko Birongo in Ndejje division, Makindye Ssaabagabo in Wakiso district, when the incident occurred.

While addressing journalists at the police headquarters on Monday, Fred Enanga, the Uganda Police Spokesperson said the deceased was killed by a UPDF deserter attached to the first battalion of the Mountain Division. He has been identified as Corporal Max Geoffrey Anyuse.

He says Corporal Ayuse was given a fire arm by the Kampala Metropolitan North Deputy Police Commander SP Vincent Irama.

SP Irama is among three other suspects picked up by cops attached to the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence and Crime Intelligence Directorate.

Deceased Ronald Mukisa

It is alleged that the deceased business partners identified as Brenda Nalwoga and her husband Robert Karedu connived with the police officer to hire the killer after developing a business conflict.

According to Enanga, Karedu and Nalwoga failed to agree with the deceased over businesses they were dealing in together, causing them to secretly plot Mukisa’s brutal killing.

The deceitful couple contacted the SP Irama who offered his gun to be used by Karedu’s body guard CPL Anyuse to kill the victim. After the mission, the hitman called Nalwoga on phone to inform her that he had killed the target.

“Cpl Anyuse, a self-appointed bodyguard to Karedu was then hired as a hitman and on the fateful day, he got a gun that was supplied to him by SP Irama.  He trailed the victim up to his home and after parking vehicle and coming to close the gate, that is when he shot four bullets within two intervals which killed the victim,” Enanga said.

Enanga says Anyuse has since confessed to using a gun belonging to SP Irama to kill Mukisa. He adds that when police ransacked the residence of the evil couple in Kulambiro, they recovered military wear, two AK 47 magazines with 52 rounds of ammunition. However, eight bullets were missing.

Enanga says both security officers will face the law for their illegal actions.

“There is no place for such indiscipline and barbaric behaviour and the actions of the officers are regrettable and not representative of the Police force and UPDF. We are going to ensure justice is served,” says Enanga.
