NUP’s Bobi Wine Speaks Out On FDC “evil money” saga as Goons block Besigye’s man
The Party President, National Unity Platform, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has spoken out on the current saga involving the Forum for Democratic Change.
The FDC party is in the news over an alleged NRM cash which is said to have crossed to the Najjanankumbi based political organization in the run up to the 2021 general polls.
FDC Spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemjju Nganda and FDC Vice President for Buganda Region, Erias Lukwago days ago addressed a gathering of a section of FDC members at Sharing Hall in Nsambya. They accused FDC President Patrick Amuriat and Secretary General Nandala Mafabi of receiving NRM cash.
The issue of the said cash has since split FDC into two: Amuriat and Mafabi on one side and Lukwago and Ssemujju on the other side. Veteran politician Dr. Kizza Besigye is on Ssemujju’s side.
Since the division cropped up, some people mainly from the ruling NRM party have been laughing at the FDC.
However, in a tweet Thursday, Bobi Wine says that “We must not celebrate when the dictator succeeds in putting down another political party opposing him.”
Instead, he adds that “we must pick lessons.”
According to Bobi Wine, “Fighting a military regime is no easy task.”
This morning, goons blocked FDC National Chairman Wasswa Birigwa from accessing party headquarters in Najjanankumbi. Although he was finally allowed in, his driver and the car remained out of the party gates. Birigwa is a close confidant of Dr. Besigye.
While addressing the media Wednesday in Kampala, Dr.Besigye called for a solution to the divisions in the party.
During the scuffle, the goons beat journalists who had turned up to cover Birigwa’s address. They phones, too, were snatched.
