4-year-old dies in Kampala-Entebbe Expressway Accident
A four year old has been confirmed dead following an accident along the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway.
The incident occurred on Saturday at Kitale Mile 6 along the Busega-Entebbe Express Highway, involving a motor vehicle with registration No. UBL 438E (Toyota Wish).
According to Traffic and Road Safety Police Spokesman, SP Michael Kananura, the vehicle lost control, overturned, and claimed the life of a 4-year-old passenger while injuring three others.
He said tat the victims were rushed to Doctor’s Clinic Kajjansi for medical attention, and the body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary, while the motor vehicle was taken to Kyengera Police Station pending inspection as investigations commenced.
Other incidents
In the past week, 79 people died in road accidents across the country.
Data shows that a total of 451 accidents were registered, with 77 being fatal, 219 were serious, and 155 minor incidents. The accidents resulted in 417 victims, including 79 fatalities and 338 injuries.
Bweyogerere
One of these many incidents happened in Bweyogerere on Friday at Kazinga Roofing Junction along the Bweyogerere-Kampala Highway.
It involved a collision between motor vehicles with registration No. UAY 634k/UAD 635Q (M/Benz Trailer) and a motor cycle registration No. UEX 867F (Bajaj Boxer).
It is alleged that M/V Reg UAY 634k/UAD 634Q while traveling from Bweyogerere to Seeta tried to over take another trailer and knocked from behind a motor cycle Reg UEX 867F Killing instantly all the three people traveling on the motor cycle
Both the motorcycle and the motor vehicle involved in the accident were taken to Bweyogerere Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV) as investigations began.
The driver of the trailer is currently on the run.
SP Kananura says that the major causes of these accidents were identified as over speeding and improper overtaking

· Have discipline on roads, respect other road users
· Exercise patience on roads
· Drive under the speed that is prescribed by the law
· Always put on safety seat belts while driving
“We call upon the members of the public to support traffic police to fight indiscipline on roads by reporting cases of indiscipline on roads,” he says.
He adds that road safety campaigns have been carried out in the month of July while operations have been carried out targeting vehicles on roads in Dangerous Mechanical Condition and a total number of 1287 motor vehicles have been de-registered across the country and tasked to be repaired.
SP Kananura says operations among boda-bodas targeting those without permits, those carrying more than one passenger, those without helmets and reflective jackets are on going across the country.
