Radio and TV personality Flavia Tumusiime has opened up about life in marriage.
Flavia is married to sports enthusiast Andrew Kabuura. They have three children.
While appearing on NTV Mwasuze Mutya on Friday morning, Flavia said that before getting married, she asked God for one thing.
“I asked God that when He sends me a partner, it should be a friend of mine. Andrew Kabuura and I were friends for a long time. We first became friends during a job that we had to do together, until we started dating,” she said, adding that “The only marriage advice I ever received that I think makes sense is ‘life is what you make it’ because everyone else will advise you depending on their perspective and not yours.”
Flavia says that marriage is not a bed of roses.
“I am not saying that marriage has been a bed of roses. At the end of the day, my husband and I are only accountable to each other. The only reason our marriage stands today is because of us and not anybody else. It’s easier when you remove other people,” said Flavia.
She revealed that after giving birth to their first child, “I wanted to prove to myself and make a point that even married women can do it all after childbirth.”
However, she said, “I experienced postpartum depression, and it was only after I broke down that I discovered what was going on.”
