Cindy Sanyu showered praises to music legend – turned politician Bobi Wine for selling her name, especially beyond the Ugandan borders.
The singer, known professionally as Cindy, says she wouldn’t be as famous as she is in places such as the Caribbeans (where her song “Dilemma” became a massive hit); if it weren’t for Bobi Wine.
“I thank God that one day before Bobi Wine became what he is today, I got the opportunity to work with him,” Cindy told our Zzina reporter this weekend.
“Working with him has been such a blessing in my life not just on stage but also because he made me so famous in Jamaica and so many other places.
“It is like he moves around with my name. He has been such a blessing to me.”
Cindy just emerged a fortnight ago from the biggest concert of her life, a battle between fellow talented artist Sheebah Karungi.
The former Blu*3 is also thankful that the hype during the build-up to the concert mid-last month helped revive and popularize some of her old songs such as Dilemma, Copy Cat, and others.
Meanwhile, the singer was asked if she would ever consider another music battle, this time with any of the so-called big three artists, Bobi Wine, Jose Chameleone, and Bebe Cool.
Cindy said this is unlikely.
“It is not something that I sit down and think about. I have so much respect for the big three, I cannot come after them like that,” she said.
It’s been reported that a battle between Chameleone and Bebe Cool, which was initially proposed by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa is already in the works.
