Kassanda district police have successfully rescued a precious one-month-old baby girl who was cruelly snatched from her mother, Kyarimpa Peace, during a visit to Kiganda Health Centre IV on October 16, 2023.
On October 18, 2023, in Waybridge, Mubende Municipality, Mubende District, police carried out an intelligence-led operation that bore fruit, two days after the infant went missing. According to police, the baby was discovered safe and unharmed after a thorough medical examination confirmed her well-being.
Racheal Kawala, the Wamala Region police mouthpiece says the suspect, Nankabirwa Esseza, 19 is in police custody at Kassanda Central Police Station (CPS).
She says Nankabirwa a local from Kalamba Town Council in Kassanda district, deceived her boyfriend with a fabricated pregnancy claim. She lied that she was expecting and later stole the baby to convince the boyfriend further.
However, the law has caught up with Nankabirwa, and she currently finds herself behind bars on allegations of kidnap and child trafficking.
