Singer Ava Peace on Saturday afternoon was in Kawempe to participate and headline Jelos Cafe’s Jelos Joyful Giving.
The Restaurant just 5 months in existence is located in Mpererwe-Kawempe along Ttula road next to Vegas Chill Out. As an end of year appreciation to their first ever customer, they prioritized an elderly man known as Ssalongo Balungi an elder in Kawempe community.
Ssalongo Balungi was given goodies that included food and drink items. Being one of the muslim leaders in the community, Ssalongo Balungi guided the singer and the Jelos Cafe staff to also gifting the members of the community.
This give-away was the first of the bi-annual charity organised by the restaurant set to officially launch in February 2024.
While speaking to the Head of Marketing at the Cafe, Nakyanzi Rose Mary aka Zoey, she said, “They give back to the community because happiness doesn’t result from what they get but rather what they give.” She further called upon the well wishers who intended to be part of the charity to leave a coin or note in the donation box at the restaurant. “We have a donation box at the restaurant, you can leave a coin or note if you wish to be part of this charity drive.” She added.
A coin shared is a smile created!
