The Bomb Squad on Tuesday detonated a buried explosive device unearthed at the Rolex Beach, nestled within Botanical Gardens in Entebbe.

The alarming discovery was made on January 23, 2024, by diligent workers who hurriedly notified the police, prompting the immediate cordoning off of the area.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan police, security officers, led by the determined District Police Commander (DPC) of Entebbe Police Division, and bomb experts rushed to the scene.

Preliminary investigations, as disclosed by ASP Owoyesigyire, suggest that a non-spent ordnance was safely recovered. The explosive device, believed to have been buried for a long period, was exposed due to soil erosion.

Guided by the seasoned bomb experts, a controlled explosion was executed on-site. The operation proved to be a resounding success, averting any potential injuries or damages.

In the wake of this alarming incident, police authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious items promptly.
