In the latest interview, Cindy Sanyu reveals why she has always had a bone to pick with nemesis, Sheebah Karungi.
Dispelling any notion that the battle was a mere publicity stunt, Cindy emphasizes the sincerity of her intentions.
The battle wasn’t a stunt,” she stated firmly. “Every feeling was attached to it.” Recounting her history with Sheebah, Cindy expressed her disappointment at Sheebah’s decision to distance herself despite the support she had offered.
“I nurtured that woman when she had just come out of the group and she didn’t know what to do,” Cindy recounted. “I spent two years teaching her the business and nurturing her. I wrote her first song and took her along with me on musical tours for her to understand how the industry is.“
Cindy’s sense of betrayal was palpable as she discussed Sheebah’s post-success actions. “So when she turned against me after she became successful, it was personal for me,” Cindy confessed. “I was like all of the people, it shouldn’t have been Sheebah doing that to me.”
The battle, according to Cindy, was her way of reclaiming her position as a mentor and asserting her influence in the industry. “That was why the battle was real, not a stunt,” she clarified. “I really wanted to show her and her team that I am a teacher. I taught her the game, and she shouldn’t have messed with me.“
The Cindy Vs Sheebah musical battle in 2023 made history as the first-ever female battle in Uganda’s entertainment scene.
