Police at CPS Kampala have arrested two suspects for robbing a school teacher of her personal belongings along Nakasero Road, in Kampala.

The victim, identified as Afoyotwoth Hope, a 36-year-old teacher and resident of Kamwokya in Central Division, Kampala District was attacked and robbed on August 7, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson says the incident occurred while she was walking along Nakasero Road when two men on a motorcycle, registration number UGA 868Z, attacked her with a panga.

He says the thugs snatched her handbag containing two mobile phones, Shs 5,000, body spray, and other personal items, all valued at Shs 1,200,000.

Onyango explains that Afoyotwoth raised an alarm, attracting the attention of dramatic boda boda riders who pursued the robbers from Nakasero Road through Lumumba Avenue to City Square, to where they were apprehended and taken to CPS Kampala.

Onyango says the suspects were nabbed with a sharp panga and all the victim’s belongings. The suspects have been charged with aggravated robbery and are awaiting trial.
