Police have carried out an intelligence-led police operation that resulted in the arrest of 40 suspects in the Ngobe-Bunamwaya and Ngobe Mayinja areas.

The operation, which commenced at approximately 12:50 AM, was targeted at specific block spots identified as key hubs for criminal activity in the area.

According to Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson, the operation was planned based on intelligence reports that pinpointed these locations as centers where criminals gather to plan and execute their illegal activities.

“These block spots have been notorious for harboring criminals who have been terrorizing the residents of Ngobe,” Onyango stated.

It led to the arrest of 40 suspects including 29 males and 11 females. Onyango say the suspects are currently being detained at Bwebajja and Kajjansi police stations, where they will undergo thorough screening to determine their involvement in criminal activities.

Onyango says that this operation is part of a broader strategy by police to restore safety and security in the area.

“We are committed to ensuring that Ngobe and its surrounding areas are safe for all residents. This operation is just one of many steps we are taking to dismantle criminal networks and bring those responsible to justice,” he said.

The police have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
