A former police officer, Police Constable Ojok Isaac Newton, has been arrested for posing as a traffic officer on the busy Queensway Flyover in Kisenyi II Parish, Kampala.
Ojok, 36, was caught red-handed by Old Kampala Police at around 7:00 p.m., unlawfully stopping and impounding motorcycles.
Ojok, who once served in the Counter-Terrorism Tourism Unit, had been dismissed from the Uganda Police Force due to disciplinary issues. However, it seems he couldn’t let go of his old habits and was masquerading as a traffic officer along the bustling Entebbe Road.
According to Rusoke Kituuma, the Uganda Police spokesperson, Ojok had been roaming the streets, preying on unsuspecting motorists, despite his official dismissal.
Kituuma noted that the Uganda Police Force has will continue cracking down on impersonators and urges the public to report suspicious individuals.
“This is just one of many cases of impersonation we’re cracking down on,” Kituuma stated
As for Ojok, he’s set to face the full wrath of the law for his conduct.
