Six people are feared dead, and six others hospitalized in critical condition following a devastating road accident at Kakira on the Jinja-Iganga road in the early hours of November 14, 2024.
The victims were traveling in a taxi, registration number UBK 574J, en route from Mbale to Kampala, when it collided with a stationary potato truck, registration number UAF 333B, which had broken down and was left dead on the road.
Kira Regional police spokesperson James Mubi confirmed the tragic incident, adding that they are working on a detailed report to provide more insights into what led to the collision. Emergency responders transported the injured to nearby hospitals, where they remain in critical condition.
“Our team is investigating the exact cause of the accident and will release a full report soon,” Mubi stated.
Police has urged drivers to exercise caution on the Jinja-Iganga route, especially when visibility is low, to prevent similar tragedies.
