Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, the Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, has passed away.
Lubaga Hospital announced his death on Thursday, 9th January 2025, at 12:10 PM afew hours after declaring that he was brain dead and had suffered multiple organ failure while in intensive care .
Speaking to the press earlier on Thursday morning, Dr. Grace Nanyondo , the hospital’s acting Executive Director stated that Hon. Ssegirinya was still alive but in a critical state.
“He is alive but in a critical condition and needs our love and prayers. Medically, he cannot be confirmed dead because he still has a pulse, we need to put him prayers” she stated,
However, in a latest statement, the hospital has revealed that Hon. Ssegirinya had been under their medical care but succumbed despite all efforts to save his life.
The hospital management expressed their condolences to the Parliament of Uganda, the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, Members of Parliament, and the people of Kawempe North, along with his family and loved ones.
“We join the nation in mourning a dedicated servant of the people. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the hospital statement read.
Hon. Ssegirinya, affectionately known as “Mr. Updates,” was admired for his tireless advocacy for social justice and his deep connection with his constituents. His passing leaves a void in both Parliament and the community he so passionately represented.
