Vivo Energy Uganda, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Uganda, has today rewarded twenty lucky customers with school fees for their children as part of the ‘Kigwera Ku Shell’ back-to-school promotion for the third school term of the year.

The promotion, launched in September 2024, aimed at supporting our customers and easing the financial burden on parents during the back-to-school season. It provided an opportunity for participants to win up to one million Uganda shillings in school fees along with other exciting prizes.

Customers who purchased fuel at Shell service stations, shopped at Shell Select stores, serviced their vehicles, or bought Shell Gas had the chance to win. Every qualifying purchase earned them Shell Club points and an entry into the prize draw.

Mrs. Joanita Menya, Managing Director at Vivo Energy Uganda, reflected on the profound impact of the “Kigwera ku Shell” promotion on their customers saying: “The back-to-school season is usually stressful for most parents and guardians, and we are happy that we could bring a smile to some of our customers’ faces with this promotion. This initiative was designed to give back to our loyal customers and support them in a meaningful way.”

“Congratulations to the winners of the “Kigwera ku Shell” promotion. It gives us great joy to give back to our customers. Thank you for trusting us as your preferred partner for fuel and non-fuel purchases” she added.

Ms. Alinafe Mkavea, Chief Commercial Officer at Vivo Energy Uganda, was thrilled to see the positive impact of the “Kigwera Ku Shell” promotion and said:“Education is a cornerstone of development, and we are proud to have supported our customers and their families by contributing to their children’s school fees for term one of the new year 2025. This aligns with our commitment to empowering communities and making a positive difference.”

When the campaign was launched in September 2024, Vivo Energy Uganda was delighted to reward its customers. However, due to conflicting dates with the official school term, the event was paused to ensure it would align perfectly with the customers’ needs for the new term.

The promotion offered multiple ways to participate, making it accessible to a wide range of customers. To qualify, customers had to buy fuel worth 50,000 Uganda shillings for cars and 5,000 Uganda shillings for boda bodas (motorcycles). Participation was also open to customers who spent 10,000 Uganda shillings at participating Shell Select shops, serviced a car for 50,000 Uganda shillings, serviced a boda boda for 10,000 Uganda shillings and bought or refilling Shell Gas.

The “Kigwera ku Shell” promotion reward ceremony was held at Shell Kitetika in Wakiso District on Thursday 16th January. Mrs. Joanita Mukasa Menya, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, attended the event and handed the prizes (school fees worth twenty million Uganda Shillings) to the winners.

Vivo Energy Uganda also unveiled the next phase of the campaign, dubbed “Kigwera ku Shell – Extra” at the event. This exciting promotion will run for two months, offering customers the chance to win a variety of rewards. Customers purchasing fuel worth 100,000 Uganda Shillings will stand a chance to win a KFC meal voucher, a beverage from Java House, or Shell Select stores shopping vouchers. Additionally, customers spending over 40,000 Uganda Shillings on shopping at Shell Select will be rewarded with Shell-branded merchandise.
