President Yoweri Museveni will resume his nationwide Parish Development Model (PDM) performance assessment tour in the Busoga Sub-Region this week. The highly anticipated visit, set to begin on Wednesday, January 22, will run until Saturday, January 25, 2025.
The President’s tour is expected to spotlight PDM’s impact on grassroots development, with an agenda-packed schedule across the Busoga region.
The tour will kick off on Wednesday, January 22, with visits to exemplary PDM farmers. President Museveni will start in Namutumba, where he will meet Mr. Buwala Tolofisa, before proceeding to Luuka District to interact with Mr. Mukasa Eliot. The day will conclude in Jinja District with Mr. Kazibwe Michael, another successful beneficiary of the PDM initiative.
On Thursday, January 23, the President will hold a live media interaction with journalists from Busoga sub-region at Kityerera State Lodge at 10:00 a.m. Later, he will officially commission the Presidential Skilling Hub at Nakabango in Jinja City.
The day’s activities will extend to a public gathering at Lwanda Primary School, where the President is expected to address community members. In the afternoon, the President will hold a crucial meeting with Busoga Sub-Region leaders at the Mayuge District Headquarters, focusing on regional development priorities.
On Friday, January 24, President Museveni will launch the construction works of Kimaka Airstrip in Jinja. He will also commission the Abyssinia Steel Factory, a key industrial milestone in the region.
Later, the President will preside over the highly anticipated Busoga Region PDM Public Rally at the Kamuli Youth Center in Kamuli Municipality. Thousands are expected to gather to hear the President’s address on PDM progress and other government initiatives.
The tour will culminate on Saturday, January 25, with the commissioning of the New Tembo Steel Factory in Iganga District, a project poised to boost industrialization and job creation.
In a first-of-its-kind move, the President will engage with boda-boda riders at a mega rally at Iganga District Headquarters, showcasing his direct connection with grassroots communities.
The dayand the tourwill end with a national address at 8:00 p.m. from Nakasero State Lodge, where President Museveni will provide insights into the tour’s outcomes and other national matters.
