The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) will this afternoon brief the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni regarding the release of the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results.

The briefing will take place at State House Nakasero at 2:30 pm. Following the meeting, the official release date of the PLE results will be confirmed, for students, parents, and educational stakeholders across the country.

The examination results have been eagerly awaited, and the briefing is expected to provide further details on the outcome of the examinations.

In 2024, a total of 798,763 candidates registered for the PLE, marking a 7.8% increase compared to 2023. The examinations were conducted from November 4 to 7, 2024.

In 2023, 749,254 candidates registered for the PLE across 15,859 centers, indicating a decrease from 832,654 candidates in 2022. A total of 86,582 candidates achieved Division One, representing approximately 11.6% of the 749,254 candidates who sat for the exams.

47,452 candidates (13% of male candidates) and 39,130 candidates (9.99% of female candidates) passed in Division one.

Overall, the performance in Division One showed a slight decline compared to the previous year, with a marginal decrease in the number of candidates achieving this grade.

Additionally, the number of candidates in Division U (Ungraded) was notably high, with 88,269 candidates (10.4%) failing to reach the minimum level of performance required for at least a Division Four.
