It was a bad day for city crooks as police swept through crime-infested corners of Kampala, arresting 29 suspects in a dramatic crackdown on February 5, 2025.
The first sting happened near Monalisa Bar in Rubaga Division, where police netted five suspects, including a notorious marijuana dealer. Officers recovered stashes of weed, a hammer, and other break-in tools.
In Nansana, the infamous “Kasoolo Group” ran out of luck when security forces stormed their hideouts in Katooke A and B at around 4:45 pm. Twenty-four suspects, mostly young men, were rounded up for robberies, phone snatching, and bag thefts. Shockingly, some of the suspects were not even residents of the area.
Police found a bucket full of marijuana, a stolen motorcycle number plate, and burglary tools. A notorious marijuana supplier was also nabbed after being identified by angry locals.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango, the operations are far from over.
“We are committed to restoring sanity in these areas,” he warned.
