President Yoweri Museveni has kicked off his Parish Development Model (PDM) assessment tour in the Ankole sub-region, inspecting the impact of the government program on rural farmers.

His first stop was in Rubirizi District, where he visited Mrs. Deziranta Tumusiime, a 64-year-old PDM beneficiary who received UGX 1 million in 2023. She invested the funds in piggery and goat rearing, growing her farm’s net worth to over UGX 5 million.

“She is a PDM beneficiary who received 1 million shillings in 2023, invested in piggery and goat rearing and her farm now has surpassed 5 million shillings networth.” he wrote

Reflecting on his previous visit to the area in 2008, Museveni recalled that nearly all 2,500 homes were struggling with poverty, except for one resident, Kateeba. He expressed satisfaction with the transformation, noting that more farmers are now rising out of poverty thanks to the PDM initiative.

“When I last came here in 2008, all 2,500 homes were poor, apart from a man called Kateeba. I am happy to see Deziranta and many other farmers getting out of poverty.” he stated

The President later proceeded to Sheema.

The President’s tour will continue across Ankole as he assesses the effectiveness of the government’s wealth creation programs.
