A fatal road crash at Mayanja Valley on the Kampala-Bombo Road has claimed five lives and left 21 others nursing serious injuries.
The accident, which unfolded on the night of March 5, 2025, involved a staggering nine vehicles and a motorcycle after a Fuso Super Grande (UBK 769A) lost control while descending. The truck rammed into multiple cars and a motorcycle, causing chaos on the highway.
The impact was fatal as five occupants from different vehicles and one motorcycle rider perished on the spot. The injured victims, mostly passengers in the taxis (T/Hiaces), were rushed to Mulago Hospital in critical condition.
SP Kananura Michael, the traffics police spokesman says they have since towed the wreckage to Kawempe Police Station as investigations kick off. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been transferred to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
He has called on drivers to exercise caution, especially on slopes, emphasizing proper vehicle maintenance and strict adherence to speed limits to avoid such carnage on the roads.
