The National Unity Platform (NUP) principal Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has accused security forces of blocking their final campaign rally in Bwaise 1, following the President’s expected arrival in the area.
President Yoweri Museveni will on Tuesday campaign for the National Resistance Movement flagbearer Faridah Nambi as the exercise enters the final day today.
The opposition party boss took to his social media platforms this morning claiming that security forces have pushed them away, baring them from campaigning across all the nine parishes of Kawempe North ahead of the highly contested by-election.
Bobi Wine is expected to feature in the last day campaigns for his party’s flag bearer Counsel Erias Nalukoola Luyimbazi.

According to the EC roadmap for campaigns, the NRM candidate is supposed to meet her voters in Kazo Angola while the NUP was expected to campaign in Bwaise 1.
However, according to Bobi Wine, they have restricted them to Komamboga, the only location where their candidate, Nalukoola, has already held a rally. Bobi says this move is aimed at frustrating their campaigns while giving an unfair advantage to the ruling NRM.
“The criminal regime has blocked our planned last rally at Bwaise 1, claiming that it is on the route to be used by Dictator Museveni. Effectively meaning that NUP is not allowed to campaign in all parishes of Kawempe North. They have said we can only meet in Komamboga where our candidate NALUKOOLA already campaigned.” he posted on his official X platform

Bobi further expressed fear of possible clashes, arrests, or violence.
However, the NUP has decided to comply with the directive to avoid endangering their supporters. The party has urged its followers to regroup at Komamboga grounds at 2:00 PM for their final campaign event.
“In order not to give them the excuse of beating, abducting or killing our people, we are going back to KOMAMBOGA grounds. Let’s meet there at 2:00pm.” he stated further
Security forces have yet to respond to these allegations, but tensions remain high as the Kawempe North by-election nears its conclusion.
