Police in Busoga North Region have scored a major breakthrough in the fight against violent crime, arresting eight notorious suspects linked to a string of aggravated robberies and murders that have terrorized residents for months.
The arrested individuals have been identified as: Namubona Aziz (31),Wambi Fred (40), Mugaya Grace (49),Ayazika Godfrey (52), Basalirwa Stephen (39), Wamubiligwe Henry (30), Takuwa Zainabu (42) and Kwagala Suzan (43)
According to Busoga North Police Spokesperson ASP Michael Kasadha, the group has been behind a series of violent robberies and killings that have left communities in fear.
He notes that during the operation, security teams recovered: Two firearms, 14 rounds of ammunition, a silver motor vehicle, Reg. No. UAZ 656D, suspected to have been used in their criminal activities.
Kasadha says the operation, which took place in Bugweri District, is part of an intensified crackdown on criminal gangs in the region.
All the suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, have been taken to Busoga North Regional Police Headquarters for further interrogation as investigations continue.
Police have assured residents that security operations will be heightened to dismantle any remaining criminal networks.
