Mukono police have arrested five suspects in connection with the shocking murder of Oloya Ivan, a 30-year-old teacher at Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus.

The gruesome incident took place on March 22, 2025, in Bajjo Cell, Nyenje Ward, Goma Division, sending shockwaves across the local community.

The arrested suspects include: Kasumba Paul (21), a casual worker, Mabale Simon (23), a casual worker,Kibuuka Tom (38), a mechanic, Lukodda Simon (18), a casual worker and Kandoole Charles Dani (16), a casual worker.

According to Patrick Onyango, the KMP police spokesperson, Oloya had left his workplace at Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus, and was heading home to Bajjo when he was ambushed and killed near the gate of Code High School, where his wife, Abbey Mercy, is also a teacher.

He says detectives from Mukono Police responded to the scene and deployed a canine unit, which successfully led to the arrest of the suspects. Oloya’s body was transported to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination, as investigations continue to establish the motive behind the attack.

Police have assured the public that efforts are underway to ensure justice is served. Authorities have also urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police in case they have any additional information regarding the case.
