A police rescue mission has saved a 7-year-old pupil who was kidnapped in Masaka.
The case, which happened on March 21, 2025, saw the child snatched on the way to school by men on a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle.
The kidnappers initially demanded UGX 200,000 from the family, which was paid, but then went silent,raising fears for the child’s safety.
Kasirye Twaha the Regional spokesperson says after intense tracking, security operatives tricked the abductors into dropping the child at GAZ petrol station in Kalisizo under the illusion of receiving a UGX 5 million ransom. Police then pounced, arresting 12 suspects on the spot!
Kasirye names the suspects as Lutaya Nelson (Motorcycle rider), Maria Gorrete Nambajjo (Accomplice), Namugamba Prossy, Namukwaya Rosemary, Serugo Matia, Kasumba Yuda (All relatives of the prime suspect),Sikyomu Tonny & Yawe Robert (Friends of the prime suspect),Kiwendo Paul & Hussein Muhammad (Accomplices),Masereka Dennis & Wamala Emma (Taxi driver & conductor)
He however notes that the mastermind, Tusibira Pius, is still on the run.
Police have launched a manhunt and urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
