A joint security operation involving the army, police, and other security agencies resulted in the arrest of 37 suspects in a late-night crackdown on criminal gangs in parts of Kitukutwe, Kidumpuli, and Bulindo zones.

The operation, conducted on March 31, 2025, at around 11:00 p.m., targeted individuals involved in robberies, burglaries, and related crimes. Authorities also recovered exhibits of opium and mealer, linking the suspects to narcotics offenses. All 37 detainees were taken to Kira Division Police Station and charged with possession of narcotic drugs.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson says in a separate intelligence-led operation conducted by Wandegeya Territorial Police on the same night at 8:20 p.m., another 23 suspects were arrested in Kagugube Parish and its surroundings. The crackdown aimed to clear dark spots and dismantle criminal networks operating in the area.

The suspects were found in possession of dangerous weapons and were detained at Wandegeya Police Station, where they will face legal proceedings.

Onyango further reveals that the operations were conducted professionally and with integrity, with no complaints registered against security personnel.

He reaffirmed that intelligence efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in criminal activity, stressing that authorities remain committed to ensuring a crime-free society.
