Crown Beverages Limited, Uganda’s leading soft drinks manufacturer, is proud to announce the launch of a new PET Waste Collection Centre in Hoima, in partnership with Reclaim, a waste management and recycling organization. This partnership marks a key milestone in Crown Beverages’ ongoing sustainability efforts aimed at promoting responsible plastic waste management across the country.
As a producer of on-the-go refreshment products, Crown Beverages acknowledges its contribution to the volume of PET waste generated in Uganda. In alignment with PepsiCo International’s PEP+ (Pepsi Positive) sustainability agenda, Crown Beverages is committed to supporting PET waste management through collaborations with dedicated collectors and recyclers.
This new initiative in Hoima is designed to scale up PET collection, improve environmental conditions, and empower local communities through inclusive engagement in the sustainability value chain.
The objectives of the initiative are to increase the rate of PET recycling in the region, raise awareness on plastic bottle collection and responsible disposal, contribute to cleaner land and water bodies, and improve the livelihoods of marginalized groups by involving them in recycling activities. These goals reflect a shared commitment by Crown Beverages and Reclaim to support environmental protection while creating socio-economic opportunities at the grassroots level.
Key highlights of the partnership include a strategic collaboration that leverages Crown Beverages’ nationwide reach and Reclaim’s expertise in grassroots recycling for maximum community impact. The PET collection centre will serve as a hub for coordinated waste collection efforts, reducing plastic pollution and promoting a recycling culture. Additionally, the project emphasizes local community empowerment by engaging residents as key players in the sustainability chain, fostering both economic and environmental resilience
